Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Darkwing Gradin was abandoned by her master, because she didn't follow up to the standards they wanted. The little hatchling broke free from the tree her master tied her to and found her way to a human. That human took Darkwing Gradin in and raised her. Almost immediately after she got a new master, she went off exploring. Soon after boldly heading out, it started to rain. Right before she headed to a nearby cave for shelter, she noticed a human abandoning an egg. She took the egg with her to the cave and after the rain stopped, took it back home. After the egg hatched the two hatchlings became great friends. In the end, they were mated.
