Striped Dragons come in a dazzling array of colors complemented by an intricate pattern of stripes. These bright colors and patterns help attract their favorite food, insects. Because their prey is so tiny, striped dragons must spend a large portion of their day eating. The color of the offspring is usually determined by the dragon’s mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Chrysochloris primarily does her hunting in the forest, where her gold-striped green hide blends in beautifully with the sun-touched leaves. Her pointed nose and long tongue let her reach under bark and into holes in trees after bugs, and she has become very fond of a particular type of sweet, juicy aphid that lives in her neighboring forests. She refuses to eat ladybugs, butterflies, or honeybees, however, on the grounds that "they're pretty, and they don't taste good enough to be worth killing a pretty thing for." She is rather fey, and a bit mysterious, capable of whimsical and impetuous behavior—her large innocent golden eyes and her genuinely sweet nature can often buy her out of trouble, though.
