It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dazzling Jewel was my first dragon to reach maturity.<br/>She gets her name for her lovely amethyst-colored scales and is quite beautiful. She's very gentle and docile and has not settled upon her ideal mate yet. For a time, she was mated to the skywing Sapphire Skies but he spent most of his time in the air due to all his limbs being wings and hardly any time with her after she had laid their egg.  He had even neglected to be by her side when their skywing hatchling Dazzling Skies was born. After awhile, Dazzling Jewel tried again with a vine dragon named Botanist and they had several children that went off on their own early, except for the one vine hatchling they'd had. She's not sure if Botanist is her perfect mate either but in the meantime she lives a very happy life in a high altitude cave and often visits with her adoptive sister, Dawn Arose.
