And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

My Sorrow Stems from your Greed once had a name. That was before she was frozen. Even as a young hatchling, it was obvious to see she was a very powerful dragon, and if she had grown up, she'd be nearly as powerful as the cavern leader. This struck fear into the hearts of many dragons and especially the leader himself. The choice was made to freeze her, so My Sorrow would never grow and would never become more powerful. The young dragon was well aware of her powers, but had no intention of using them to do anything bad or overthrow the leader. The other dragons assure her that she had no idea of her own ability and was lucky to not have been thrown out or killed. My Sorrow should have remained as a normal hatchling forever, with no evidence of growth, but Sorrow's mind continued to grow each day. She found that she was nothing like the other hatchlings, so she never wanted anything to do with them, and hides away each day. A lot of ghost stories stem from her.
