Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Kollauskuss was one of the few eggs in the cave that was very unwell for a long while. Barely surviving his own birth, "Koll" was exhausted with the effort of hatching. As a Guardian dragon, one might think he would be strong and powerful as he grew, but his scales never hardened as they should have, though his size is rather large. His steely looking tail and plating is thin, and he cautions himself to not be too bold or try anything dangerously brave. It's a daily struggle to stay realistic and level-headed, but he learned early that what he lacked in durability, he gained in forethought. Koll considers himself a judge, and a neutral party in disputes. Most of his time is spent hearing thoughts of others, or advising his close friends that he treats as his sister and brother, Sanctisellia and Haeverunum. Koll denies himself a mate, for he does not wish the same pains on his offspring, and there are plenty of other hatchlings that will need a wizened teacher.
