Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This dragon was stillborn in the egg. His mother grieved and would not leave the still egg, her very first child. She bathed it with gentle flames to keep it warm, and scratched at the shell, to help her baby hatch.

Against all odds, one day, something did move within that egg. It seemed his mother had managed to breathe the breath of life into her firstborn son. He was unusual from birth, he never spoke; and as he grew older, they discovered he was blind.

He never ate, but did not seem to hunger, nor did he die of starvation. It was only when the other dragons discovered him beside the corpse of another hatchling that the truth dawned on them. Having been born and hatched so close alongside death, Lord Death only needed pure life energy, the magic of life, to survive, and in fact, sucked it out of the dragons, plants, and animals around himself; sometimes, he took too much.

The other dragons grew fearful and cast him into the wilds. He was found by Vampires, and now lives among them.
