Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

As a hatchling, Nascul often wondered about his parentage. He didn't look like either of his parents, nor any of his grandparents. For a long time he thought he must be adopted and wondered what that meant about his personality, genetic history, and future choice of mate, should he find one. Expressing these questions to his mother Nacea one day, she expressed surprise. She hadn't realized that her son had matured so quickly, asking about such complex issues. It had also never occurred to her that he doubted his parentage, and she went on to explain that while Nascul didn't look like her or his father, he was nearly the spitting image of her own grandmother and several other Black dragons in their family tree going back at least five generations. Reassured about his parentage and armed with knowledge, Nascul decided that this strange occurrence in Black dragon genetics required further study. He partners closely with Melixis, the cave's genealogist, trying to unravel this mystery.
