Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Casten was the first hatchling to arrive in the Dragos Clan after the first 4 dragons had matured. As a hatchling, he spent most of his days near Sciath. His favorite form of entertainment was stalking her shield like tail and then pouncing on it. This simple action would make Sciath laugh. Casten continued to stalk his "prey" to hear Sciath laugh again.

Upon maturing, Casten began extensive training to help protect the clan. Once he deemed himself strong enough, he approached Sciath to court her. He knew what he wanted in a mate. He wanted a strong mate that protected the clan. Sciath was his first and only choice.

Sciath adjusted to his night time life quickly enough, taking up night time protection of the clutch.

At night, Casten hunts and guards for the clan. Often times, his kills would be breakfast for the majority of the clan.
