Lumina Dragons received their names from their highly reflective scales, which—at times—seem to glow. They are vain, always strutting about and preening incessantly; if one of their scales has so much as a scratch or a defect, they’ll remove it. Luckily, their scales grow back quickly, and each new growth is more beautiful than the last. These narcissistic dragons live in small groups and prefer to surround themselves with beauty. The females guard their territory and eggs while the males search for vegetation to eat.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The last dragon to hatch in Generation 2, Melli couldn't wait to leave the cave. She couldn't resist going with Zephyr on his search for honey. She also loves watching Gemini, a Dark Lumina. Like him, and all other Luminas and Dark Luminas, she loves everything that glitters. But nothing glitters more than the open sea, with emerald islands forming a necklace-like archipelago.

No one before her had bothered to look. Everyone was happy on Mirrelm, and there was plenty of room in the mountain for more caves. There wasn't really any reason to expand, except the spirit of adventure Melli had been harboring inside her for a long time.

To look, she started disappearing for lengthy periods of time, until she found Ilglace, an island with native dragons. She and her mate Zephyr volunteered to be the first settlers on the new island, and to work with Zeta to build relationships with the dragons there, and make a joint effort to discover and settle more islands.
