Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

As a young ungendered hatchling, this dragon heard her keeper talking to another keeper about how much she wanted a female Vampire. Although still young, this hatchling decided to become "female", and sought advice from other dragons on how to do so. Most laughed at her, saying that one could not choose your gender, it was a random happenstance that one lived with. However, the keeper's only Aria dragon took pity on the little hatchling and explained that certain dragons could influence an egg before it hatched, making it more likely to be this or that gender. Although the hatchling could not remember her time in her egg, the Aria did recall her keeper stating that another keeper had influenced the Vampire egg to be female, which is why the baby had arrived as a hatchling gift, rather than an egg. Ecstatic, the hatchling chose her name on the spot and waited impatiently for her gendering time. When it turned out she was female, she could not have been happier.
