Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Icy Ambition is just that--frozen and full of arrogance, maliciousness and greed. He was very mad at Lightningstreak when she cast the spell to freeze him. Icy Ambition's way of telling it is that Lightningstreak lured him there, then zapped him with an icy-cold spell that caused him the most pain of his life. As a matter of fact, he was told he was being frozen, but wasn't paying attention, like most care-free hatchlings. It is rumored that Icy Ambition is in the league with Starkit, another of the frozen hatchlings bent on revenge. He and Starkit will stop at nothing to turn as many of the hatchlings and frozen hatchlings against their owner, mistress and savior.
