Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Zrymi's brilliant display of shimmering scales often attracts the attention of female dragons, along with the cruel intentions of golden scale hunters, though he has learned to stay close to home in order to avoid a fatal encounter with such hunters. As a matter of fact, he rarely ventures further than the sun outside the cave, as he tends to stay close to his mate, Krud, who seems to enjoy the dark depths of the cave. Though he is the father of several dragons, he can, at times, be immature with his humor and will take things too far; when you see him moping around the entrance of the cave, you can bet he has annoyed and set off a few of the dragons that lurk in the depths.
