Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Togeko was brought into the Sylvain clan as part of a trade while she was still an egg, and as such she's always been somewhat unsure of her place within the family. Her lineage has always been a source of simultaneous fascination and anxiety for her. Though she is now of vampiric blood, she has more than a fair share of gold and shimmer-scale in her extended relatives and she once felt obligated to live up to their lofty breeds. Since she now no longer physically resembles her biological siblings, Togeko has resolved to pay more attention to tracking the Vampires she now shares family members with, meticulously noting the details of the biting and the bitten in the hopes that perhaps she will meet them someday. She believes that learning the stories of others like her will help her figure out what she wants to do with her undead life.
