Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Cryomancy and his brother, Chionomancy, are the Breedery's only two wild-born Winter Magis. They were found during the glorious Winter of Wishes, after the Winter Magi species had seemed extinct in the wild for years. Alongside members of the other winter-spirit species that had once been so elusive in the wild, the two Winter Magis grew up safe and warm in the Breedery creche.

The one nicknamed Cryo is cool and patient, but can be intellectually obsessive. The Winter Magi believes that the written word has a special magical power to it. His hoard is more like a library. He keeps everything—magical works, cookbooks, poetry and literature, histories, and more. Fine art, rare maps, and so on adorn the walls throughout his lair. 'Normal' treasure either becomes more library decoration (sometimes bookends), or is used when trading. Cryo authors many new spell-scrolls, and the Winter Magi also enjoys acquiring rough gemstones, then carving or faceting them with his own claws and magic.
