Skywing Dragons spend most of their lives flying in the air. They hunt from the air, diving at prey from above, and land only to rest. They are some of the fastest fliers, capable of extremely high speeds. The webbing at the end of the tail acts as a rudder, allowing them to easily change direction during flight.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Zeffis (Zef-fihs)was one of the first eggs Pharolux rescued from the abandoned egg ledge. Several times in her early life, she nearly died, both in the shell and after she hatched out.  The little Skydragon spent most of her hatchlinghood floundering about in ponds with Sunamisan as both draclings were ungainly on land. She learned to swim before she learned to fly, but once Phog showed her the sky, there was no stopping her! More than once, Phog had to retrieve her before she was lost to the strong winds high above. Now, SHE teaches HIM aerial acrobatics. She retains her special bond to Sunamisan and often flies low over the water and often dives in with him, porpoising in and out of the water as they race.
