Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Chronos are often considered to be the most elusive of all Xenowyrm subspecies: they live in the darkest and densest forests, far from civilization. They are masters of time magic, allowing them to manipulate the flow of time at will. It is said that Chrono lairs are protected by a field of magic that makes the minutes tick by at a slow pace for any unwanted visitors.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Oceanum is a mysterious dragon. His egg appeared out of a fault in the earth, and he is quiet, not explaining all the odd occurrences. He is rather gentle and enjoys caring for hatchlings but otherwise seems to be a mystery. The one dragoness he trusts with these mysteries, Aurum, refuses to tell the other dragons what he says. The only other dragon to know of these mysteries is his sister, Ardor. Ardor, however, is equally, if not more, mysterious as her brother. All that other dragons know of him is as follows: When near to him, time seems much more plastic, much more uncertain, going by so quickly and then slowing down to the speed of a tortoise. He has one egg, also a Chronos xenowyrm, which he gave to a human as a gift to display his gratitude for her excellent care of eggs. Nothing else is known to most dragons.
