Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

With many dragons of different climate affinities, the Lair of Bird is spread out across the land. To ensure all dragons are safe and able to return to the main cave, Magi dragons enchanted Golden and his 'siblings' to be able to communicate with each other across miles of land.

Golden is with the Alpine group, standing most days perched on a snowy spire to watch over the cold loving brethren below him. The Ridgewings make him winter flower crowns when the old one wilts.
