Phantasma Dragons are a reclusive species hidden in the shades of canopies and thick tree trunks. The pale, hard protrusions covering half of a Phantasma’s head emit a constant pulse that causes one who faces them to go insane and lose control of their limbs, effective when handling prey or intruders. However, this also means that anyone up close without resistance to dark magic suffers adverse mental effects even when the pulse is repressed to its weakest. Due to this, they shun close company, choosing to visually ‘melt’ into the shadows with dark magic when someone approaches so they cannot be found. Instead, they interact with telepathy, deep roars and surprisingly melodious vocalizations. The almost-musical sounds are beautiful when near but warped and hollow when their echoes are heard from afar, spawning unsettling rumors of an illusive specter. Phantasma Dragons are in truth loyal partners and attached to the few friends they have, although they can be fiercely protective to the point of becoming vindictive to perceived threats.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
