Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves watching the reflection of stars in the water.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Surprisingly, Earendil does not mind being forever young. It does not bother him that he will never grow wings or start a family. He is content with the carefree life of a hatchling, although he spends most of his time looking over books, scrolls, and maps of distant lands. Earendil became good friends with Arahael Goldenheart, after the heartbroken golden wyvern hatchling was teased by the other hatchlings when he was found to be inbred. Earendil is smart, optimistic, and has a secret passion for crystals, which he tucks under his nest when he finds them.
