Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Flutterluck started her life as a bad luck magnet. Her weyr was destroyed when she was barely old enough to fend for herself, any dragon who tried to help her either had ulterior motives or came to harm, and humans tried to make a pet out of her on multiple occasions. Then, she met Yarixti, and her luck changed. She now travels Galsreim by the guardian's side, cheering up those she meets.
