Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves warmth, and sometimes you have to pull it away from fire to keep it from burning itself.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Sukoshi yamori is a very quick little dragon. He has just gotten the hang of flying and seems to be quite the natural. Other than flying in the wee hours of the morning, he can usually be found sunbathing in the hot desert sand or in a little burrow with the rest of his kind. He is not yet big enough to hunt the desert antelope, but he watches the adults quite carefully when they do just so he knows how to do it when it is finally his turn.

His name means 'little gecko'.
