Water Walkers are small dragons that are frequently found around bogs and ponds. While they are flightless, they retain the flight sacs and hollow bones of their airborne cousins. These traits, coupled with their extraordinarily long, webbed toes, allow them to stand on top of calm waters, using their small sails to propel them wherever they please. They spend the majority of their lives on the water, retreating to the tops of lily pads when the waters become too rough to float atop.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Skater, like her father, Achilles, is a rather shy Water Walker. She tends to get freaked out by all the dangerous escapades her mother, Flowing, drags the family on and hates having to move around so much. Skater finds comfort in stagnation, stillness. Whenever she isn't running with the rest of her family from some danger her mother caused, she's sitting in nature, usually around some body of water. While she does prefer still ponds and especially her home lake, Skater is not against chilling out near bubbling rivers or beaches. She just won't attempt to stand on such them. As mentioned, Skater is very shy. She doesn't generally interact with other dragons, not even within her own family. She's an outcast to her siblings, who are all so much more bubbly and social. She feels equally alienated by her mother and barely knows the rest of her extended family because they're always moving around. The only one she has a real connection to is Achilles, her father. He is her closest friend.
