Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Sergey Arsenyovich, prime black dragon of the Arsenyo Family. He lives in a network of caves along with his other black dragon brothers and sisters along with their mates. They are the only dragons among the Arsenyo Family to have their own small community. All black dragons and their families are free to stay in the "community" (along with the scholar, Arsenyo, of course) as long as they wish. Sergey, being the oldest, is considered the prime dragon of their community. Due to Sergey's extreme age, his body is somewhat frail, his claws are non-existent and his wings are barely able to let him hover. He and his wife, Sasha have six children, two of which continues to live with the Family.
