Incense Dragons are long-bodied dragons with short legs, typically found in narrow cave systems where their lizardlike build is an asset rather than a hindrance. They constantly produce a heavily perfumed magical smoke, filled with traces of mana, that most creatures find extremely pleasant-smelling--extended exposure to the smoke will put most non-dragon animals into a sort of dazed, entranced state. They use this smoke to attract prey, as well as to mark their territories, as each Incense has a subtly different smoke scent. While these dragons typically do not consider humans to be prey, their smoke does affect humans, and so Incense lairs are best avoided by those who don’t want to risk bizarre side effects of mana oversaturation...

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation.
