Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When one of the dragons inhabiting the lower caverns of the Kallidragon Mountain made mention of strange hissing noises floating up from the darkness of the deep ravine situated to the south, it was dismissed as an overactive imagination. But when rumors of all sorts of prey disappearing around that region were added to his claims, the pack voted in favor of sending their most experienced dragons to investigate. They returned the following night carrying the strangest little hatchling with them. Auryn Lightheal, the pack's premium white dragon healer, immediately recognized her for what she was. The young vampire's fate would have been sealed if it weren't for her dragon blood. In the end, she was allowed to stay and was relocated into a deep lightless cave before the sun came up. Growing up, she learnt to survive on the blood of their animal prey and made a point of accompanying their night hunts. Her name was Nemesis and she was the first vampire dragon of the Kallidragon pack.
