Blacktip Dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Salt Piotr (or Piotr, even sometimes Pete) is somewhat of a loner considering the gregarious habits of his species, residing in a rocky shelter at the edge of an inland lake with his brother Ohlin. They spend most days catching fish and building their lair's library—already lavishly decorated with flowers and collected trinkets. Both are avid readers and lovers of knowledge, seeking to understand humans and their ways. Piotr is the prankster of the two, startling unsuspecting woodsmen with a loud honk or a fish dropped out of nowhere. Most humans recognize his good nature and their dogs approach him without fear, playfully licking his snout.

He is relatively unfazed by most troubles except when it comes to his brother. They have been known to quarrel almost viciously, but when Ohlin is in danger, Piotr will always come to his aid.
