Script Dragons are named for the markings along their wings and sides that look almost like calligraphy. The patterns correspond to no known language, and are slightly different on every dragon. These dragons only develop the characteristic markings when they reach maturity, and they are fairly capable with magic once the patterns appear.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

User Description

Visulth Bookwyrm is working on a way to make the written word more accessible to those who cannot see. Transforming text to the spoken word would seem to be the natural choice, but he keeps hitting snags. If he magically records himself reading, then he either needs to read whole books aloud, a slow and daunting task, or piece together magical recordings of himself speaking individual words and phrases, which leads to a rendition that is stilted at best. If he enchants the book to read itself, then the only way to make the rendition at all lively is to give the book limited sentience, which just leads to a book that makes edits to its material and provides snide commentary.
