Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has two heads and bright, glowing eyes.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling constantly argues with herself. A typical conversation overheard:

"Let's go to the mountaintop and play in the snow."

"No, let's go to the geysers and play in the water jets."

"But I want to build a snowthing and pummel it with iceballs!"

"Well, I want to splatter everyone we meet with scalding water."

"Oh no, you're not splattering me again!"

"Hah, that was just getting you back for the slushball in my ear!"

"I'm hungry. Let's go fishing in that deep mountain lake."

"I want gnu from the savannah."

"We had that yesterday! It's my turn to choose today!"

"Okay, but pick something tasty this time; I'm sick of scales."

And so she bickers, constantly. The safest thing anyone encountering her can do is just stay out of the argument.
