Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Unlakaui is Alorena's best friend, but he wants to mean much more to her. If she ever decided that she wanted to have a mate and raise hatchlings, he would be the first one to ask to be her mate. He has decided that Alorena is the only dragon he ever wants as his mate, and he took a vow to never be with any dragon except her. While he is also a skilled warrior, his true talent lies with his ability to use magic. Unlike most dragons, he doesn't need to speak a spell out loud in order for it to work, and he can destroy an opponent in battle by reciting the words in his head, so his enemies never know what spell he'll conjure up next.
