Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Wandering is never happy to be in one place, and it seems to be plagued by a very strong sense of wanderlust. It is impulsive, impatient, and has difficulty following orders, making it very hard to control. When it is left to its own devices, it usually stays out of trouble, but it has run afoul of some very unfriendly wild dragons. Wandering is a stubborn hatchling to deal with, but its tamer hopes that its difficult stage will pass.
