Pitfire Dragons are an infernal breed, reveling in the suffering and misery of others. These dragons are not known to be strong magic users, nor are they capable of flight. However, these weaknesses are made up for in the extent of their physical prowess. They have little respect for most other creatures, including members of their own family group; however, those that have fought or fallen in battle against formidable foes are highly revered. They are constantly on the move, always on the hunt for food or a skirmish. The malevolent nature of Pitfires is feared by many, and the damage they leave in their wake is a sure sign for those to be wary. Pitfire activity has been noted to increase as the weather grows colder and the nights grow longer.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mavolie is a rebellious daughter. Seeking vengeance against her mother who so carelessly tossed her and her siblings away. Mavolie is not so easily discarded without consequence. No one is safe from her wrath once she chooses to unleash it. She has no idea where her siblings have gone; carried away by the rapids of the river her mother dumped them into. She washed up into a cove inhabited by a large colony of dragons of many different species. She was fished up by the fish hunting-dragons and brought to the nursery where she was cared for, and the colony took her in. They are her family, and have earned her loyalty, but Mavolie has sworn that if she ever encountered her mother, she would answer for throwing her own daughter away like trash. The battle would be brutal and the rivers would run red. Even the nearby wildlife would flee in pure terror from Mavolie's victory call.
