Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Mesconna is one of the smallest dragons in Tiffalkin's pack, but she is definitely the alpha-female. As the oldest, she takes immediate precedence to absolutely everything, and as one of the smartest she doesn't let that go to her head.  Over the years, she has had to defend her position from a few hot-shots (most recently Cyrali) and has fought them off with stunning expertise, justifying her leadership many times over.

Mesconna first came to Tiffalkin as a barely matured hatchling, weak and separated from her pack. When Tiffalkin gave her a home, Mesconna returned the favor with undying loyalty and a strong leader for a fledgling pack. Mesconna's godfather, Satchell, caught up with her eventually, and drops by to check on his adopted child.
