Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

A most foul-tempered and belligerent little creature, there isn't much to set this female apart from any other of her cranky kin. Except, that is, for the person who follows her. A young boy, dark haired, and clothed in blue and white, can constantly be seen chasing after her, all the while squealing "A SHINY PONYTA, A SHINY PONYTA!" The hatchling doesn't appear impressed with either him or his pet rodent, and makes frequent yet always ineffective attempts to set them both on fire.
