Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Some people believe dragons never stop growing until they get slain or run out of food. For some dragons this is true, but for Wikaal, this is the complete opposite. Instead of being huge because of his age, he is extremely tiny! No one knows why, but as soon as he matured to adulthood, he began shrinking! Now, because of this and his age, he is the smallest dragon in the cave, besides the pygmies. People suspect he'll eventually shrink into nothingness, but it might take a while. Right now, he's smaller than the Mint Dragons, but only slightly. In another year or so, however, he'll rival the pygmies in smallness. Wikaal doesn't mind being small, but instead thinks others are jealous of his size. Some actually are, in fact. They believe he'll live to be the oldest in the world, since no one thinks of killing tiny dragons, nor will Wikaal run out of food. Wikaal likes these thoughts, despite how small he'll be then!
