Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Despite having two Night Glory parents, The Real New Day was a Day Glory. The Real New Day was heartbroken when her parents were chased from town, but the misunderstanding was rectified. As a solution the humans came early to chase away the bats so her parents could walk into the torchlight and make themselves known. Now The Real New Day can happily invite her parents to a stay whenever she wants. She thinks her parents are cool, mysterious and that though they don't understand humans like her they're nice.
