Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Gendai is considered the quartermaster of the Sylvain clan's Black Dragon guard, as he's constantly developing new variations of draconic armor. He has a solid relationship with many of the local tradefolk, and can always arrange for favors or sales whenever he needs a blacksmith to re-forge a set of gauntlets or a wizard to enchant a leather chestplate. He loves the rush of entering the fray in his full kit of custom-fit magically enhanced protective gear, and is always excited to spend hours fussing over his siblings whenever they need their own set of armor. His living cavern is filled with prototypes of different pieces, as he eternally works to adjust shape, weight, enchantment, and decoration to perfectly suit any dragon he is ever asked to outfit for battle.
