Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a somber color, but is surprisingly playful.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling has an unfortunate dilemma, though not an uncommon one in his home: he doesn't know how to say his own name. The first part is fine, though he isn't exactly thrilled to be named Snuggly. But that second half just has way too many letters. And as for what it means, forget it--he has no idea. His close friend, a terrae hatchling named Phoenecian Gold, has the same problem, and it's how they first bonded. Insomniac used to spend a lot of energy trying to puzzle out his strange name, but he doesn't let it keep him up at night anymore.
