Terrae Dragons are primarily herbivores who prefer to eat from the tops of trees. However, due to their massive size, they must rely on small, specialized scales to absorb and convert energy from the sun. Since they live in tightly-knit groups, this form of energy absorption helps preserve the forests in which these dragons reside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Shepht and Zembueh are a bizarre and highly entertaining pair. When he first met the Hellfire female, she nearly took his eye out in a fit of rage. It was love at first sight for him. Ignoring all her fierceness, her anger, her near-misses and her death threats, he followed her around like a sick puppy, much to the amusement and consternation of the rest of the cave, who feared for his health (both mental and physical). However, he must have done something right: Zembueh not only learned to tolerate but to love the placid and affectionate male, and he is the only dragon whose society she actually enjoys. Shepht is not only her soul-mate but also acts as her link to the other dragons, with whom he has always maintained close friendships.
