Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Valdire Methort-Otore is Vud's self given name. The torture of being pink and male drove him to insanity. The other dragons deemed him "Vud" because it's "a cute wittle name for a cute wittle dwagon." Vud often tries to harm the other dragons, which is mistaken for signs of affection. He hopes one day that he can destroy all of the dragons that teased him, then flee the cave and continue his rampage. The only dragons that understand Vud and his mad-man plans are the other frozen dragons.
