Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Jid is Dawxk's guardian.  She has never shirked that duty once in her life.  Despite the fact that Day Glories are not as intelligent, Jid is a drake prodigy.  A Glory genius, one might even say!  She loves to solve problems and help out.  Jid always loves to play with Dawxk in her free time.  She is just as loyal to the Gillian clan as she was her own colony.  Jid accepts the fact she will probably never see her colony again, but is satisfied with her new life.
