Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Death Claw is so named because of his hunting abilities. He hunts at night, using his magic to wound the victim. This is where "Death Claw" came from. He uses his claws to produce the magic. He bites the victim with his strong mouth. This is where "Death Jaw" came from. Even though his name fits his personality, he is not happy with it. In fact, he longs for a new name. He once almost killed himself and was told not to do it because of what it's like to be dead. Today he is a kind, well-behaved Black Dragon, and fights to protect his clan with his life. He has learned to put up with his name.
