It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Coming from a highly festive, cheerful, bad-pun-making family, this dragon always felt a wee bit out of place--maybe because she preferred math and solitude to celebrations and pies. While her family loved her all the same, as time went on and she continued to question if she belonged there, the truth finally, reluctantly came out; an adopted child, her true parents were of a far more serious and far less savory type, resulting in her eventual abandonment and adoption. Hurt more than she knew was possible, she bid her family (for that was what they were, blood be hanged) goodbye and went to find peace with herself. She succeeded, but in a most unusual way.

The ringleader of a circus for dragons offered her employment as a clown, of all things! Initially skeptical, she took the job anyway, hoping feigned mirth would find her real peace. Between friends, affection, and understanding it did, and she's now a true clown at heart, fitting in quite well with her family when she visits!
