Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It must be very shy since it keeps hiding from you.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Esingyr, the Elven word for "earth", is the name of this hatchling, who was frozen after he hatched, so he would be prevented from dying before reaching adulthood.  Esingyr is an orphan.  His parents are unknown, and perhaps, always will be.  Esingyr likes to spend his time bathing in the sunshine and wrestling with his foster brother, Brisingyr.  He likes to have someone he can depend on, though he is not a very needy hatchling.  He is comforted knowing that someone is always watching his back, and he will always return the favor.  He is very quiet, but very cunning and keen as well.
