Stone Dragons have a tough outer covering made of a stone-like material. They eat rocks, using the minerals they contain for nourishment and to keep up their stone outer shell. They rarely move, and are the heaviest of all types of dragons. Although they have wings, indicating flight ability, no one has ever seen a stone dragon flying.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Stone Sister has an unusual history. She was originally a Guardian Dragon of a castle hidden in a mountain. In a last attempt of the Guardians to protect it during a war, they used the souls of ten Guardian Dragons to create ten magical statues. Stone Sister was one of the dragons. Alas, it did not work, and Stone Sister's soul became trapped inside a statue, and when the opposing tribe destroyed the castle, and the statues with it, her soul was trapped in a lonely pile of rubble. After decades of waiting, finally, a lonely magi dragon, Opalta, stumbled across the ruined castle. She was a powerful magi dragon, animated the ten statues to free the dragons souls. They became ten Stone Dragons. Stone Sister, so grateful for Opalta's kindness, and with a little of that Guardian Dragon that's inside her, vowed to forever be her companion, and to follow her and protect her wherever she may go. Opalta readily accepted, saying that she was very lonely, and they have been friends ever since.
