Albino Dragons are so named because their translucent, scale-less skin lacks all pigment. Instead, to help protect their bodies from the sun, they are coated in an oily secretion that blocks the sun’s harmful rays. The call of an albino dragon is similar to a barn owl--a shriek instead of a roar.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Peate, though not exactly the prettiest dragon in the cave, is greatly admired. She survived, as an orphan, alone in a dense, dangerous forest filled with strange creatures that would happily eat an albino hatchling. Once she gained her wings, she happily fled the forest and, after flying 10,000 miles, found a small, cozy cave in which the dragons currently living there welcomed the lonely hatchling. Peate was shy at first, thinking that they would try to eat her like the creatures in the forest. She soon found out, though, that they all were trying to make her feel comfortable. After realizing this, Peate overcame her fear and played with all the other hatchlings and dragons. Sometime later, she became an adult and all the dragons celebrated. Now, Peate is friends with all the dragons and is very sweet to everyone.
