Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Uhm is a dedicated member of the Firewind Clan, but this young hatchling is hardly a good guardian. He was named Uhm for his usual utterance of "Uhm..." whenever he is confused- which is almost all the time.

Uhm is perhaps the most clueless dragon that the elders of the Firewind have ever come across, but this doesn't change his bright, optimistic attitude toward things or the fact that he always thinks he is doing well. He can't seem to do anything of his own free will- let alone follow the orders of the more senior warriors. Even when shown an image of the finished product (and inevitably screwing up his version of it) Uhm can't seem to comprehend that he has done it wrong. However, despite these faults, he always does his best to get the job done- even though "best" is a matter of opinion.
