Guardian Dragons have large shields on the end of their tails. Although the shields appear to be heavy, they are light, yet nearly unbreakable. Guardian Dragons use their tail-shields, as well as their wings, to deflect attacks and protect others. Often, they will guard the eggs and hatchlings of a nest while others are away. They are generally peaceful, and will not retaliate unless necessary. They have no need to forage or hunt, as they are fed by those they protect.
Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.
User Description
Gar'diado is a southern Guardian Dragon. No-nonsense, all business, he protects Summers' Bride, Dae'cora and the rest of the females with a savage diligence. The silver shield on his tail is put to good use in front of Summer, and has many small scratches from wild animals.
When Dragon Mirror decided she should choose a dragon leader of the Caverns to rule primarily, she had a vote. Almost everyone voted for Gar'diado, diligent, noble, and duty-minded Guardian Dragon. Everyone except Reilly, and he was far outvoted. When Gar'diado settled perfectly into his job, he decided he should take a mate. Knowing he loved her after years of protecting her, he chose Summers' Bride, the up-and-coming, beautiful, spritely socialite of the caverns. He wasn't sure how happy they would be at first, but it proved to be the best choice, and they have had three children.
