Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Questionable Quandary is a hatchling bred from Ethereal Dawn and Kalen Kismet.  This little one inherited both power and intelligence from his parents.  He began asking himself questions, and often just wandered around, lost in his own thoughts.  He saw the world through the eyes of an ancient dragon, but with the optimism and innocence of a hatchling.  He stopped eating for a week when he realized that he wouldn't always be a hatchling; one day he would grow up and lose the hope that he associated with his hatchling state.  He'd seen the darkness, the resigning acceptance of the mediocrity and tediousness of life in the eyes of adult dragons outside of his clan.  He didn't see it within his own clan; he felt good about that.

The understanding of how that could happen to him, terrified him.  To lose his hatchling innocence was something he knew he just couldn't bare.  It was with this fearful logic that he approached his own mother Ethereal Dawn to be frozen.
