Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to perch on the high branches of the taller trees and look longingly up at the sky.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Stories of where The Hatchling came from differ from dragon to dragon. She arrived on a rainy afternoon, wandering into the Horde's territory. They took her in, and to this day, many regret trying to make acquaintances with her at all. The Hatchling doesn't seem to be growing up any soon, for she never gets taller.  Her main function is to play pranks on people and terrify enemy dragons. The Hatchling is very creative with her tactics and can send any dragon scampering away in fear. The Hatchling is especially well known for scaring away a vampire dragon with a wooden spoon and a couple of rotten fish.

The Hatchling is the hero of many young canopy dragons in the Horde.  The older dragons try to keep her separated from them as much as possible. Especially Rain Foot, the medicine dragon. The Hatchling takes a sadistic delight in sneaking up on her, biting her tail, hiding her herbs, vandalizing her den, and overall trying to make her day as bad as possible.
