And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Rudaba is a young orphan who was found by another Autumn dragon while she was still an egg and brought home to his clan to raise. She doesn't miss whoever her parents were because she is surrounded by caring adult dragons and friendly hatchlings. She looks up to the adult Autumns and hopes to some day be as regal and smart and brave as the rest of them. She does not enjoy play-fighting like many hatchlings do, preferring the company of the adults. She wants to help with everything, but being so small and young, she usually just gets in the way. Her adopted Autumn father is the only one who talks to her like a grown-up and will spend hours teaching her about dragon philosophy.
